Summer 2006 Server Maintenance Windows

5/14/2006 - 5/17/2006

We migrated successfully from WebCT Vista 3 to WebCT Vista 4. This is an entirely new version of the product and contains many new features and enhancements.

MCNC staff installed Solaris operating system 10.

MCNC staff implemented switch and other networking hardware changes.

MCNC staff along with WebCT Premium Support worked with us on resolving networking and software configuration issues.
5/21/2006 Maintenance window was not used.
6/4/2006 7:00am-10:00am: We successfully added two additional application nodes (we now have three total) to our load balanced cluster in addition to adding new SSL certificates and restarting the primary application node.
6/18/2006 6:00am-3:00pm: We successfully restarted our application servers in order to implement configuration changes and run tests.
7/2/2006 Maintenance window was not used.
7/16/2006 6:00am-12:30pm: We successfully restarted our application servers, implemented a fix for migrated course issues, and completed other maintenance work.
8/6/2006 6:00am-12:30pm: We successfully upgrade to WebCT Vista 4.0 Service Pack 3 and performed a full file system backup of the database.

1/15/06 6am-3pm: We successfully installed Load Balancing for WebCT Vista with 2 application nodes (2 additional nodes planned).
2/5/06 7am-8:30am: We restarted all servers.
2/19/06 Maintenance window was not used.
3/5/06 6am-10:30am: We successfully created a full backup image to use for testing the Vista 3 to 4 migration. MCNC successfully added a new switch.
3/19/06 Maintenance window was not used.
4/2/06 9:30am-4:30pm: MCNC successfully completed networking and switch maintenance.
Fall 2005 Server Maintenance Windows

9/4/05 6am-9:30am: We successfully installed the Wimba Powerlink for WebCT Vista and restarted the primary application node.
9/18/05

6am-3pm: We installed Vista 3 Service Pack 5. This service pack includes BEA Weblogic updates, Vista application updates, Java updates, and changes to some database tuning parameters. We also installed hotfixes 52080 and 52090.

MCNC staff installed Solaris operating system patches, updated firmware on the database and application nodes, audited Solaris security settings, and rearranged/installed hardware within our racks.
10/6/05 - 10/9/05 Maintenance window was not used.
10/16/05 Maintenance window was not used.
11/6/05 6am-8:30am: We successfully installed Oracle Database updates.
11/20/05 Maintenance window was not used.

We installed Vista 3 Service Pack6. This service pack includes BEA Weblogic updates, more browsers added to the supported list, and various product enhancements.

MCNC staff installed Solaris operating system patches which were recommended as well as security patches.

MCNC staff along with WebCT Premium Support worked with us on configuring the load balancers for deployment in the near future.
