Browser plug-ins for use with Vista

Some online content may require additional browser plug-ins to view (for example, the free Adobe Reader may be used for viewing PDF files). Listed here are several commonly used plug-ins.

acrobat reader Adobe Acrobat Reader - Allows users to view the common file format "PDF" or portable document format (Click continue in the top-right to download) .pdf
flash player Adobe Flash Player 9 - A plugin for your browser, this allows you to view Flash animation content .swf, .flv
quick time Apple QuickTime 7 - The default media player for QuickTime movies .qt, .mov, .avi
real player Real Player - A cross-platform media player that plays a number of multimedia formats .rm
windows media player Windows Media Player 11 - Another media player, designed to be the default player for Winows Media files .wmv
word viewer Microsoft Word Viewer 2003 - View, print and copy Word documents, even if you don't have Word installed, including Word 2007 format .doc, .docx
powerpoint viewer Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer 2007 - View, print and copy PowerPoint documents, even if you don't have PowerPoint installed .ppt, .pptx
excel viewer Microsoft Excel Viewer 2003 - View, print and copy Excel documents, even if you don't have Excel installed, including Excel 2007 format .xls, .xlsx

Make sure you also have a supported browser and a supported version of Java. While the case may be that what is "supported" is not the most up to date, Blackboard recommends using a supported version for best results when using Vista.
